Welcome to Skeena Data Centers

The Project

Skeena Data Centers is in the early development stage of a proposed infrastructure driven campus of independently owned private data centers in Terrace, British Columbia. The vision is to provide shared power, connectivity and shared campus infrastructure services supporting scalable data centers from 5 MW, designed for Canadian enterprises, government, research, cloud and AI workloads, and colocation providers.

We are currently assessing the feasibility of land, power, water, connectivity, environmental and engineering options, while engaging with the community and First Nations to identify opportunities for meaningful benefits and participation. This work will determine the project’s scale, design, infrastructure and development plan.

What Makes Skeena Different

Large, single-tenant data center developments backed by Big Tech and private capital have dominated the industry. Skeena is taking a different approach, built around shared infrastructure, independent ownership and the flexibility to develop in phases rather than committing the entire project to one customer or one technology.

This gives us more options as power, connectivity, technology and customer requirements evolve, while allowing different owners and workloads to operate within the same campus.

We also want Canadians to participate in the value being created by Canada's growing digital infrastructure. Our venture model is intended to include Canadian investors, First Nations and local participation, keeping more of the ownership and long-term economic benefit in Canada. As an early-stage project, we will be open about the choices we are considering and engage the community as those plans take shape.

The Platform

Skeena provides an integrated campus designed for private, owner-operated data centers:

  • Powered, freehold industrial land
  • Multiple, sustainable & scalable energy supply
  • On-site power distribution and redundancy
  • Fiber connectivity and interconnection readiness
  • Closed loop water cooling infrastructure
  • Shared campus services and security
  • Development, engineering, and delivery support

Our model allows owners and operators to focus on compute, not infrastructure complexity.

Power and Sustainability

Skeena is evaluating a phased energy strategy with a long-term target of up to 300 MW. Rather than depending on a single source of power, the approach is designed around reliability, flexibility and the ability to add capacity as the campus grows.

Options being evaluated include behind-the-fence natural gas generation, future access to BC Hydro grid power, geothermal and battery energy storage. We are also exploring technologies such as solid oxide fuel cells, hydrogen blending, carbon capture and other renewable generation where they can improve efficiency, resilience and reduce emissions.

The final power mix, capacity and timing will be determined through feasibility studies, engineering, permitting, commercial agreements and available grid capacity.

Why Terrace, British Columbia

Terrace sits at the center of a growing infrastructure and industrial corridor in Northwest British Columbia, with access to major energy, transportation and communications infrastructure. The region offers a cool climate, industrial land suitable for phased development, and proximity to existing and planned power and natural gas infrastructure.

Terrace is connected to the Port of Prince Rupert and the rest of Canada by CN Rail and Highway 16, with regional air service through Northwest Regional Airport. It also serves as a regional center for the major energy, LNG, mining and infrastructure projects being developed across Northwest British Columbia.

For Skeena, the opportunity is to build on this existing infrastructure while working with the communities. First Nations and regional partners to determine how new digital infrastructure can support the region's long-term economic development.
